Easy 7-petal crochet flower – free pattern

Easy 7-petal crochet flower – free pattern

This is my first written pattern ever. Please, bear with me and be patient! :)

Easy-peasy!

The pattern is for a 7-petal crochet flower that serves as an applique and/or embellishment for hats, beanies, yada yada yada…

This produces an 8-cm (3 inches flower). The purpose is to leave a “big” hole in the middle, so you can use it as an applique… So, instead of crocheting or sewing the flower directly onto your work, try sewing on a button and crochet several flowers in different colors. This way, you’ll have the same piece that changes according to your mood, your clothes, your inspiration… Enjoy!

You’ll need:

6,5 mm/ K hook

Worsted yarn (6 meters/20 feet – WOW! This is something, isn’t it? 6 meters for a flower?)

Gauge: What?

Now, brace yourself. Here we go:

Row 1: Chain 6, slip stitch to the beginning of the chain to form a circle.

Row 2: chain 1 (does not count as a sc), 13 sc into the circle. Sl st into chain 1.

Row 3: *chain 3, skip 1 sc, sl st into next stitch* 7 times. On the last chain, sl st into the 1st chain.

Row 4: sl st into the first chain 3, *chain 3, 4 dc, sl st into the chain 3, sl st into the next chain 3* 7 times = 7 petals. On the last petal, sl st into the chain andthen into the sl st into the first petal. Fasten off and finish off.

Any queries, please let me know: post a comment or contact me @ didaveleda@gmail.com.

The pattern for the beanie on the first picture (which is bit dodgy in the photo but it is – I assure you – absolutely gorgeous and slouchy) is by Amanda Paton and may be found here: http://pardonmychaos-amanda.blogspot.com/2010/03/crochet-simply-slouchy-hat-pattern.html (thank you, Amanda!).
