Granny Square to Wear – or the world’s easiest top

In between the dreadful work overload of the past few days, I managed to crochet this little delight. Yes, CROCHET. I’ve been so busy learning how to knit that I had “forgotten” that I’m actually much better (and quicker) at crocheting.

granny5This particularly pattern is Amanda Tipton’s take on a “Granny Square to Wear”. And what a great concept it is! In the matter of a couple of hours, you’ll have a great baby top, perfect for these sad Spring days. All you really need to know is how to crochet a granny square (check out Teresa’s blog if you need help – http://www.crochetgeek.com/2009/01/crochet-traditional-granny-square.html) and then take some time to join both pieces. It’s instant-crochet-satisfaction! 🙂

Despite being completely swamped with work, I still have time to do my thing!

This is an extremely easy and quick knitted baby top. I had to use 5.00mm needles to obtain correct gauge. Little A. is currently 6-month old and the top still has some room to grow. Good! The yarn is Sirdar Summer Stripes (Sombrero), which is 60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic, which is super soft and quick. And, the best thing is, it only took 1 skein!

Bibs. Here’s something you can NEVER have enough. Never. First comes the spit-up. Then come the first meals. And then that dreadful monster without a face called “Teething Horribilis”. So, whether you need to keep your bib stash full, you’re searching for a last minute gift for a baby that literally takes one to two hours to finish or you’re just taking your first steps in knitting, this is the project to choose.

So, this is the Confection Baby Shrug. If you’re looking for an easy and adorable baby knitted shrug, this is the pattern to have by your side. AND IT’S FREE, so make sure you thank Tonya Wagner properly and drop by her website @ http://www.theshizknit.com/.

Using US 8 – 5.0 mm needles and worsted yarn (I used acrylic; not sure about the brand, though), this is a fast project. The eyelet details and the ribbing definitely bring the garment to life. I did make the sleeves a bit longer, but only because winter is still in full force around here.

Such a long absence! :)

Well, first of all, so sorry for the extremely long absence. Between being pregnant (and VERY sleepy), having the baby and all things in between, my blog was somewhat abandoned… 🙂

Nevertheless, I’m back! In the meantime, I’ve learned how to knit and have been spending some time improving my skills. I’ve already made a few things that I’ll be sharing with you later on!

Bun in the oven!

Well, it seems that I have a bun in the oven! 😀 And you know what this means: baby crochet overload! I’ve been making some very cool things that I want share with you.
